Hugh Clow
After completing his studies at Nottingham University and gaining valuable experience at a long/short equity fund in The City, Hugh Clow joined forces with Jim to establish Planks in 2009. Serving as the CEO, Hugh took charge of all operational aspects from the company’s inception. He not only directed sales and marketing efforts but also played a pivotal role in establishing a comprehensive end-to-end supply chain. In Vietnam, he was instrumental in building a production team and creating an outerwear sample room from the ground up.
In more recent years, Hugh has shifted his focus towards sustainability, overseeing the company’s transition to recycled materials. He successfully collaborated with “blue sign” woven fabric suppliers in Taiwan and contributed to the development of bespoke recycled knitwear textiles in Bangkok.
Grateful for the opportunity to guide the company’s strategy, Hugh oversees a dedicated management team, ensuring the efficiency of operations and finance. He takes pride in being part of a business and industry that aligns with his values. Hugh holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a focus on Economics from Nottingham University.
